A ten-tent camp pitched inside the national park itself, about seventeen kilometres in from the gate at the foot of the Rift wall — and unfenced, so the bush comes to you.
Lake Manyara Tortilis Camp sits within the park at the base of the escarpment, with views out across the soda lake. Ten en-suite tents each have a private veranda, and the camp is deliberately unfenced: hyena and buffalo pass through, and lion are heard more often than seen. Being inside the boundary means a game drive starts at the tent rather than after the descent from the rim, and the airstrip is roughly thirty minutes away.
