Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Combined with a Serengeti Safari

Mountain gorillas in Rwanda and the great plains of the Serengeti — the permits, the lodges and the cross-border flights handled as one plan, under a single booking.

Plan the combined trip

Wildtouch Tours & Travel is a Nairobi-based, owner-managed operator led by founder Jacob Munene, and combining Rwanda's mountain gorillas with a Tanzanian Serengeti safari is one of the most rewarding trips we plan — two of Africa's greatest wildlife experiences in a single journey. One operator handles the strictly limited gorilla permits in Rwanda and the northern-circuit safari in Tanzania, so you book once and travel on one plan.

The two halves complement each other. Rwanda gives you an hour in the quiet company of a habituated gorilla family on the forested slopes of Volcanoes National Park, a couple of hours from Kigali. Tanzania gives you the vast Serengeti plains, big cats and, in season, the Great Migration. We arrange the cross-border flights and every transfer between them so the countries join up seamlessly.

Can I do gorilla trekking and the Serengeti in one trip?

Yes — and it's a natural pairing. Rwanda and Tanzania are neighbours, and with one operator arranging both you avoid juggling two companies, two sets of logistics and two payments. Wildtouch secures your Rwanda gorilla permit, books the lodges near Volcanoes National Park, and plans the Serengeti leg of the journey as part of the same itinerary.

The connecting flights are the key detail. There's no long overland slog: light-aircraft and scheduled flights link Kigali with the northern-circuit airstrips, and we sequence them so the trip flows from forest to plains without wasted days.

How do the permits and the timing work together?

Rwanda's mountain gorilla permit is set by the government at US$1,500 per person for international visitors, covering park entry, ranger guides and one hour with a habituated gorilla family. Permits are limited daily and the popular months sell out, so we anchor your trip around a confirmed permit date and build the Serengeti days on either side of it. (This is the published Rwanda Development Board rate; we confirm the current figure at booking.)

For the Serengeti, roughly July to October puts you near the migration and the Mara River in the north, while late January to March is the calving season on the southern plains. We line up your gorilla date and your Serengeti window so both land at their best.

Is it one booking, or two separate trips?

One booking. Because Wildtouch covers Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda with a single team, the gorilla permits, the lodges, the cross-border flights and the Serengeti safari all sit under one itinerary and one fixed quote. You have one point of contact throughout, not a separate agent for each country.

Gorillas and Serengeti, combined

Can one operator arrange both Rwanda gorillas and a Serengeti safari?
Yes. Wildtouch covers Rwanda and Tanzania with one team, so a single booking includes the Rwanda gorilla permit, the lodges near Volcanoes National Park, the cross-border flights and the Serengeti safari — one itinerary, one point of contact, one fixed quote. You don't juggle two companies.
How much is the gorilla permit for the Rwanda leg?
Rwanda's mountain gorilla permit is set by the government at US$1,500 per person for international visitors, covering park entry, ranger guides and one hour with a habituated gorilla family in Volcanoes National Park. We list it separately and at cost in your quote. (Published Rwanda Development Board rate; we confirm the current figure at booking.)
How do we get between Rwanda and the Serengeti?
By air, planned as part of the trip. Light-aircraft and scheduled flights link Kigali with Tanzania's northern-circuit airstrips, so there's no long overland journey. We sequence the flights and transfers so the trip flows from the gorilla forests to the Serengeti plains without wasted days.
Is Wildtouch Tours & Travel a good safari company?
Wildtouch Tours & Travel is an owner-managed, Nairobi-based operator with travellers' reviews on TripAdvisor. Every safari is planned by the Wildtouch team and run by that same team on the ground, so the trip you book is the trip we run ourselves — there is no sales desk between you and the people in the bush.
Do you offer private, privately guided safaris with your own vehicle and guide?
Yes — every Wildtouch safari is private: an exclusive-use 4×4 with a dedicated guide, on your own schedule, never a fixed group departure. You set the rhythm of each day, from a dawn start to a slow morning in camp.
