Fifteen white domed pavilions scattered through a large garden above the Kendwa sand on the north-west coast, each with plunge pools of its own and no neighbour in sight.

Elewana's Kilindi takes a big planted garden running down to the beach at Kendwa on the island's north-western shore. Its fifteen pavilions are built as clusters of white domes on stepped levels, each with water of its own — a pair of plunge pools apiece — and enough greenery between them that privacy is the default rather than something you ask for. Facing west matters here: the swimming holds up through the day and the sun goes down over the water rather than behind you.
