Thirty tented suites on the banks of the Mara River inside the Maasai Mara National Reserve, close to the crossing points the migration herds use between roughly July and October.
Ashnil Mara Camp is run by Ashnil Hotels and sits on the Mara River within the reserve, so game drives start at the camp rather than at a gate. The tents look out over the river, and the camp has a pool, a small wellness centre with a gym, solar power and an all-year season; Wi-Fi reaches only some areas. Breakfast beside the hippo pool is one of its set pieces. Guests fly into Keekorok or Ol Kiombo airstrip, or drive from Nairobi in five to six hours.
